While I understand that the Android Platform is gaining popularity, I never would have guessed their gains would come from Windows Phone users. However a report that was released today seems to suggest this very thing

I am here to say to all my Windows Phone users, HANG IN THERE! We got a cool device coming. Honestly I have seen and used the DROID and actually think it is very slick. But never considered going to Verizon to get one. I have nothing against Verizon, well I do hate their international calling rules but I just like my Windows Phone better. To add to that I am really excited about what is coming out. But in a report that was released today the Android Smartphone platform went from 2.8 percent to 7.1 percent of the market. That is nuts! Windows Phone fell from 19.7 percent to 15.7 percent, OUCH. I guess it is to be expected because I can’t imagine anyone buying a new Windows Phone before 7 series releases a the end of the year.

BlackBerry Gains

I don’t know how they did it but the number 1 Smartphone in the US got bigger. Congratulations to RIM. The rose from 41.3 to 43 percent. I guess there attack into the consumer market is working.

Apple Gains too, a little

While Apple is still number two, they did not gain very much in the last three months. The iPhone when from 24.8 to 25.1 percent. But I am not calling doom and gloom like everyone else. I am sure this has to do with their new release coming in June.

I have joked with you in the past so I feel comfortable saying.
Where in the HELL did you think the market share would come from . Really!
I am not trying to kick Microsoft but for Mobile they have been the weakest platform for several years now. That may all change later this year but for now it is a fact.
    RIM owns the business market
    Apple owns the consumer market

Microsoft is trying to find their way.

Well to be honest my mindset was that all that was remaining were the hardcore WinMo fans. It never dawned on me that there were still some fringe folks out there. I think that was what suprised me the most. All other reports were saying that MS only had 8 percent of the Smartphone market. So I really wasn’t thinking there were much more to lose.

I am a “hardcore” WinMo fan. I am now on my 4th WinMo phone, starting with WM2003SE, WM5, WM6, and now WM 65. I can say I’m a power user too, and I flash ROMs from XDA Dev when the stock rom is not up to task. But, even with XDA Dev, all I can say is that I’ve almost had it up to here with how much MS is messing up. As soon as I see a Android phone with the hardware specs that matches the HD2, I’m going to spring for it, and its so long WinMo.

I see we share the same history. So i understand your frustration. Can you elaborate on what you see as the biggest disappointments. And also did you like the videos of Phone 7. I liked them a lot and could not pull the trigger on a switch until that phone comes out. Do you feel it won’t be good enough?
