oh yea as most people do not mention rom manager does not install the clockwork mod. rom manager only puts the update.zip on the sd card, then u must use recovery mode to install the package.

If i decide to put a diferent firmware, doing this kind of backup will allow me to restore te previous firmware?

Bootstrap? You have a Motorola Droid, right? Not a Droid X/2? Bootstrap is only for those units. I would load ROM Manager, make sure it loads ClockworkMod, and then use that to boot into Recovery mode.

I power up while holding down the power button and the x key and the traingle with the ! comes up. Per #1 above I hold down the volume up and the camera keys but nothing happens.

PS I used bootstrap after I rooted – did I skrew up

Well, I guess you have found another instance of corruption from an early 2010 crash. This is what was meant to be said:

“Shut your phone down and boot into Recovery Mode. On the Droid, this is accomplished by holding down the physical “X” key (on the keyboard) while powering on. You will then see a triangle with an “!” in the middle. At that point, you press the Volume-Up key and the Camera key at the same time and you will see the Recovery Menu. If you have a DroidMod ROM, it will go directly to the Recovery Menu without the second steps.”

I will see if I can get back to this post tomorrow and fix the rest of the crud that seems to have landed there. Thanks!
