Lucky me I give my wife the HTC Incredible and low and behold she gets the update notification early. Before going to bed tonight she tells me the phone told her several days ago there was an update available. I always manually updated my phones, but she who could careless about the update is getting it pushed to her phone. I have to check is RIMarkable Robb is getting the update notification.
If you are a Droid Incredible user you will be happy to know the update is not moving out to mass deployment. If you have not received the update yet you can manually install or just wait for the notification. Either way enjoy Froyo.
Manual Install Instructions
- Download Android 2.2 Update from Google
- Rename the file to update.zip (Avoid naming it update.zip.zip)
- Copy the file to the root of the SD Card.
- Power off your phone
- Hold the volume down button while powering on the phone
- The white Bootloader screen will appear. Select Recovery
- On the recovery screen press the volume up and power button to show the recovery menu.
- Select apply sdcard:update.zip
- The update will apply and you will be prompted to reboot. After the reboot you are running Froyo. Keep in mind the boot will be slower the first time.
