Amazon Fighting Off the iPad

Amazon's Message

It would be shallow for me to suggest that Amazon would stoop so low as to show on their homepage the advantage of the free 3G on the Kindle vs the consumer fleecing model of the iPad. Oh wait, they did put that on their site!

I have seen the iPad commercials; Sure it’s pretty eye-candy but just not a game changing device in my opinion. Let’s be honest: the iPhone is a hard act to follow even for Apple. I can see ways I could use the iPad but I cannot imagine this device will be remotely as successful as the iPhone. A mobile phone is sticky, always with you; the iPad or Kindle just aren’t there (yet).

Need vs Accessory

For example, I love my Kindle but if I leave home on a trip and forget it I would never turn around to get it. Now if I leave home without my mobile phone I will drive 50 miles back to pick it up.

In the same way, even in these days of GPS-enabled phones, I have a colleagues who still travels with a dedicated GPS. Because like me, they have to get to where they are scheduled, and on time. People are counting on us to do so. If something happens to the GPS, they will be going to Best Buy and spend a few hundred dollars, no questions asked. I can’t see doing that with the iPad.

What kind of device do you find yourself absolutely lost without? What has become more than a nice to have, and become a necessity you can’t live without. Love to hear from you!

Wow…I guess the post regarding your grammar offended you…enough to remove it. I guess the constructive criticism is too much for you to handle. I can also assume you’re not a big fan of the first amendment either… :)

Yeah, if we were worried about grammar, this would be called Simple Grammar Review. You can clearly see that we aren’t. Goes for spelling too. We just hope you can understand us occasionally!
