I was at the gate for my flight and the lady next to me asked how I liked my Droid. It was not a pickup line she had a Motorola Droid as well. With in a couple minutes we started talking about apps and I told her about BarCode Scanner and she was blown away. BarCode Scanner allows you to scan a product bar code and lookup the price of that item online. While she was impressed by the product lookup concept the part that was interesting was using it to share contacts, applications, and bookmarks. I wanted to show her how the app worked so I allowed her to scan a bookmark on my phone for http://www.simplemobilereview.com. Shameless maybe but I had to demo the application didn’t I? I also told her about LastPass and Bump and let her scan those application barcodes.
Sharing Technology
You run into people all over the place and when you can share a small piece of technology that makes someone say wow you have to call that a job well done. I suspect the concept of scanning barcodes will become old like when we used to exchange contact information via IR in the mid 90′s with Palm Pilots and Pocket PC’s. Yes a decade later we are solving the same problem and the solution is not getting much better.
