I was messing around with my Zune HD the other day and realized that not every application has to have a significant daily need. Sometimes you have an app that you play with just for the fun of it. I decided to take an app from different devices and see if you enjoy them like I do.
Checkers on the Zune HD
I have always loved Checkers but surprisingly never played it on a device. A few weeks ago I installed the free Checkers APP from the Zune Marketplace and was quickly amazed out how good it looked. But what took me a little longer to realize is how fast I got addicted. I just could not put My Zune Down. I also realized the computer is a beast on hard.
Christmas Countdown (Kyle Hankinson) on the iPod/iPod Touch
I was in the office one day and was talking to a coworker. he mentioned to me he created an app for the iPod Touch and the iPhone called Christmas Countdown. This app simply lets you know how long it is until Christmas. It has Christmas music in the background and multiple screens the app only costs .99 cents. I just get a kick out of seeing it. I finally knew it was a winner when my wife heard the music playing and looked at the screen and said “that is so cute!â€
Teeter on Windows Mobile (HTC)
When you buy a HTC Windows Mobile phone there may be a free app on it called Teeter. This app is a game that uses your accelerometer to move a ball through a maze. It is very similar to Monkey Ball on the iPhone or iPod Touch. The thing is there is not a lot going on the screen so it is very easy to get drawn in and play the game 30 minutes at a time. As you progress through the game the boards get harder but it is still just as fun.
Battleship Motorola Droid
Nostalgic is all I can say. This games takes me right back to my child hood. How can you not think of those plastic boats and trying with everything to put them on a diagonal vs. vertical or horizontal axis. Or taking a hit but lying and saying miss.
Sudoku Lite on BlackBerry
Unless you have been living under a rock you have heard of Sudoku. My wife says it relaxes her mind before going to bed. For me it passes the time before the start of a call, standing in line, or during the lovely hold music. Either way you can be more productive but isn’t burning out a bad thing?
