Post image for 1 64GB Apple iPad SOLD.

Despite all my better judgement I just hit order on my 64GB iPad.  I use this site as my excuse for my technology addiction. I figured talking about technology would help curve my ferocious appetite but it has not. In fact there are days I want to write posts about car tech, refrigators, door locks and so much more.

I don’t see traveling with it but I hope it will entertain the kids. Now that I can use WiFi tethering on my Droid the 3G version of the iPad is not important should we travel with it. And for my Kindle friends not to worry, this will not be replacing that device. I sold my MacBook Air about a week ago.

One of the most intelligent people I know wrote an article on January 27,.. to quote him
“I hoped for something good and got an oversized iPod Touch. I just cannot see buying this device ,,,………………. This is a massive disappointment. Any tech outlet making excuses or trying to make you believe this POS is worth buying has lost their creditability.”

I believe he wrote this article on this website ,……… Hmmmm I hope he has not lost his creds if he buys one ,…….. even if it’s just to write a review ,………

By the short and curly’s I say

I could not stop laughing when i read your comment!! But Robb and I knew he was not holding out. But I am waiting for him to order number 2.

I see you removed one critical statement :)
“I have a friend that wants to buy my MacBook Air, maybe I will part with that and pick one up.”
I would have used the term “tech whore” but jelly fish is equally valid.
I am excited to write a review of the device from the perspective of using it with the family and kids.

Lets see how strong Chris is when the Microsoft Courier releases.

I love new and different technology. No point in writing a blog it I cannot resist playing with the latest stuff. Love the comment though. I should send you and iPad just so your hooked by the short curly’s. :)

loi, I saw this come in my google reader and couldn’t help commenting. I remember all the comments. But in the end he is a hardcode nerd and loves technology.

I respect the geek in him and the itch to get different technologies.

And the sad thing is that Rod started hitting refresh repeatedly on the order page to make sure that he could order his right at 8:30… :)

Rod, are you sure you made the right decision? Even though you don’t want the 3G, are you sure you should pass up the GPS in the $829 version? ;-)

    • http://www.simplemobilereview.com Rod Simmons

Let me guess you ordered the 3G version. Your tech toys eclipse mine so either you did order or you will shortly. Your Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 needs to be replaced. Admit it.
For those that need to catch up on Brent’s History of the tablet

      • http://simplemobilereview.com Brent

No, I have not ordered one, because I already replaced it with the TC1100 with the HP Pavilion TX2500, and just last week, I received my Lenovo S10-3t Tablet netbook, running the new Intel Atom N450 x64 processor. It is a very nice multi-touch Tablet, and with the 6 cell battery, around 8 hours of battery. Oh, did I mention that I have tweaked it to play HD video? :-)

Plus, while I might eventually cave in to Apple, I REFUSE to pay the early-adopter premium. In 4 or 5 months, when they drop the price by $200 dollars, I will be tempted again. Or perhaps I will wait for the camera edition…

Order or Reserve for in store pickup.

Brent I can hear you sweating and wanting to order. Just navigate to the site it will make you feel good.
And stop buying all the copies of The Catcher in the Rye. [If you have watched Conspiracy Theory it will make sense]

I really WANT a Slate Tablet again! But, I am OK for now, and I am really keeping my eye on all the other vendors who will release over the next 6 months. I am having so much fun with Android that I think what I really want is a 7-8-9″ Android Slate Tablet that I can mod. I get to go on Monday to HP with the possibility of taking a peek at a couple of their new potential offerings in this category that are in their labs. We need a balanced view, so I really HAVE to pick something different, right? ;-)

        • Jacob

At $200 it will definitely be tempting but I will have to find a great use for the device to even think of coming out of the “dark”.

  • Bastiaan

He told me he won’t keep it,.. but only write up a review and then send it back within a week. once he holds that puppy in his hands it won’t leave it again,… and his kids are not allowed to play with it until V2 has been released in 2011. ;)

  • Neil

I knew you wouldn’t be able to hold out on it despite your initial post…Bastiaan was right…
It’s too tempting despite all the bashing we do..
I am sure you will enjoy it. Can’t wait to read about your reviews once you get your “Hands on it” and for Chris… I can bet he will be buying an Apple product this year and he will buy the courier when it comes out… We are just suckers at this…

    • http://www.simplemobilereview.com Rod Simmons

Did you really read my initial post?
I hoped for something good and got an oversized iPod Touch. I just cannot see buying this device without getting it to replace something else. I have a friend that wants to buy my MacBook Air, maybe I will part with that and pick one up. Actually, most likely not. This is a massive disappointment. Any tech outlet making excuses or trying to make you believe this POS is worth buying has lost their creditability.
I did exactly what I said Sold the Air and got the iPad. :)

I am not saying this is worth you buying. Just saying I did what I said and ordered it.

Blah Blah Blah! It will be a dark day in hell before I make a purchase of anything Apple. I love Windows Mobile which started witht the Moto Q for me before I cracked the screen and got and LG Voyager. But as soon as the contract was up I got the outof the shade and into the light and picked up my TouchPro 2.

I will have to say I have played with Apple products but they don’t interest me like other devices do.

Anyone who thought Rod was not going to order the iPad has the blinders on! You, me and everyone should know he would have made that purchase blog or no blog!

    • http://www.simplemobilereview.com Rod Simmons

It is almost like you read my tarot cards and know the truth behind everything.

Just wondering how dark a day in hell? I suspect it would take much less. Come on take a bit of the Apple what is the worst thing that could happen

      • Jacob

I don’t need tarot cards. Since I have known you technology and gadgets have been a passion for yours. I appreciate all the advice and help about software and hardware from you and Chris.

No moon and/or no stars on an overcast winter night in a rain forest would probably be dark enough. The thing that got me started with my refrain from Apple products was the MP4 format and iTunes application. I did not want to convert files I already have just to use a device and I did not want to download the app to have to use my files when I already have one that plays them. WMP!

You see what happened to Eve and I ain’t Adam either!

  • iPhoneGirl

Forget all these fools. I for one welcome you back the the Apple fanboy (or Girl) group.

I respect any geek that can bash a product and still buy it just because it is new. I agreed with all your points but you have to use it to make a final call. Please Please Please let us know how the family like it.
